In the fight against Covid-19 in Turkey, Afghan refugees began producing masks voluntarily in Kayseri in order to contribute to the protection of all during this difficult process.

With the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the Afghan Refugee Solidarity Assistance Association (ARSA) started producing masks with a team of seven volunteer refugees. The goal is to produce one thousand masks a day to reach 30 thousand masks in a month.

 

After being disinfected by Kayseri State Hospital, the masks will be distributed free of charge to health institutions, government institutions, and those in need.

Working within the scope of the project, volunteers wear masks, bonnets, and gloves and pay attention to the social distance.

 

Soap production project
In a statement to euronews Turkish, Arsa President Dr. Zakira Hekmat said, "This is not our only project for solidarity. We are producing soap and distributing it to refugees, migrants, and citizens in need."

In this case, the soap production project will run for six days starting on May 18. The project, which will only be realized by volunteers, is described as a "small but heartfelt contribution" to overcoming the health crisis.

 

As refugees, we produced masks to pay off our debts of loyalty to Turkey, and we use the talent of the people and institutions we can reach to show our solidarity as we negotiate these difficult days. "We will contribute to this process by producing masks without charge, voluntarily. It will be difficult, but we will get through it together. We will do our very best to fulfill the requirements of brotherhood."

 

In 2008, she came to Turkey as a student after the Taliban prohibited the education of girls. He then finished medical school at Erciyes University and settled in Kayseri.
